Veteran defensive again Jason McCourty is retiring from the NFL after 13 seasons.
The 34-year-old introduced he was strolling away from the NFL in a novel vogue. On Friday afternoon, McCourty posted an Instagram video that includes highlights from his soccer journey narrated by his spouse and youngsters.
“These previous 13 seasons have been one hell of a journey. As I replicate and look again at my profession, I’ve far surpassed any and each expectation I set forth for myself again in 2009, and that is what I am most pleased with after I look again on my profession,” McCourty stated on the finish of the video. “Strolling into a company, with the ability to put my mark on it by placing my head down, working laborious, and carrying for the people round me.”
A sixth-round decide by the Tennessee Titans out of Rutgers in 2009, McCourty spent the primary eight seasons of his NFL profession with the Titans. From 2009 to 2016, McCourty began 90 of 108 video games for the Titans, compiling 506 tackles, 13 interceptions, six pressured fumbles and a sack.
McCourty signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2017, posting 65 tackles, three interceptions, two pressured fumbles, and a landing in 14 video games.
Forward of the 2018 season, the Browns traded McCourty to the New England Patriots.
The transfer to New England allowed McCourty to play side-by-side along with his twin brother, Devin McCourty. The 2 performed three seasons along with the Patriots, successful Tremendous Bowl LII in Jason’s first season with the workforce.
